Did we mention that when we include ‘gaiters’ and waterproof hiking boots in our gear list we intentionally left off the ‘plastic bag’ option. 

Sometimes though, you just get a real special hiker (well, avid runner turned hiker to raise money to support cancer research…. But I digress) and this is the workaround to those pesky waterproof boots that did not get packed – let alone used.  We literally hiked for 10 hours in flooded grassland that was thawing from the winter snow. Needless to say the dogs were NOT on board with this solution.
