Double Amputee Climbs Mt. Kilimanjaro

06.22.2012

There’s this phrase called “redefining the possible.” We think it applies to any adventure, like climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, that stretches us to our limits and shows us who we really are, and what we’re really capable of.

Still, something like this redefines what’s possible for everybody: a man with no legs has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro!

Spencer West, who lost his legs at the age of five, has redefined his possible by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on his hands and in his wheelchair — all while raising funds for international charity and youth empowerment organization Free The Children.

A Canadian television station interviewed West after his climb; he was great about giving lots of credit to others, including porters who occasionally had to carry him on their backs.

But we want to say congratulations, to anybody who manages to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. In this case, much more than a hait tip is due.
