Meeting the Masai – Cultural Safari in Tanzania

 

On every Embark trip – especially our adventure trips in East Africa – we take people way off the beaten path, in areas rarely visited by tourists. Our goal is to surround them with the unexpected, take people safely out of their comfort zones, and to see what transpires. It usually turns out great!

This is exactly what happened when we descended upon a remote village about 20 miles away from Mt. Kilimanjaro, way out in the bush. Within 20 minutes or arriving at the village, there were more than 50 Masai tribesmen surrounding us. This picture shows us Kellie Marshall, surrounded by Masai, who were intently listening to the Masai woman tell Kellie that she should come to the village and teach.
