Trekking in Nepal to Fight Cancer Around the World
Embark Moves Mountains for Multiple Myeloma
01.12.2017
At Embark, we don’t just love leading trips; we love helping people have the adventure of their lives. We also love working with philanthropies to combine adventuring with personal empowerment and fundraising for great causes.
We have already helped the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation climb Mt. Kilimanjaro twice. And now we are thrilled to be helping them trek to the Mt. Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
As it says on their trip page, the team will consist of
multiple myeloma patients, caregivers, doctors, clinicians, nurses, and others connected to multiple myeloma. This is a powerful and life-changing experience as the team overcomes challenges, pushes beyond perceived limits, and honors loved ones and friends living with multiple myeloma.
Each member will also commit to raising $10,000 for research, so the team’s goal is $160,000 towards finding a cure for this type of blood cancer that affects the plasma cells. Our role is getting everyone safely through a Mt. Everest Base Camp trek, including a trip to Kalapathar, the highest point on the trek at 18,519 feet above sea level.
