Kilimanjaro Triumph: An Epic Journey Unveiled
What an incredible season on Kilimanjaro!
10.26.2023
What an incredible few months on Kilimanjaro! In September and October, almost 100 Embark climbers made it to the top of Africa’s highest mountain- we crushed it!
There’s no doubt, our success is due to our amazing, competent, selfless, seasoned support team, many of whom have hundreds of summits. In addition, they’ve got decades of experience, and have dealt with every possible scenario on the mountain.
A big thank you – asante sana – to the core Kili crew: Fredrick, Augustine, Manase, Yobu, Evance, Mark, Godliving, Emmanuel, Octavian, Able, Leonce, Gaudence, Anderson, Allfred, Filbert (mgambo) and of course, father and son team, Freddie (mshamba na mkuu) and Hans (mshamba mdogo). You are the reason why we not only have so many people make it to the top of Africa- but many of them come back for another time around! These are Kilimanjaro’s #1 guides and we are so lucky to work with them; to share each success, each challenge, with them. They LIVE on Kilimanjaro, they BREATHE Kilimanjaro, and they ARE Kilimanjaro. We love them.
And what would the Kilimanjaro summit successes be without proper fuel and outfitting? A HUGE shout-out to our cooks who take such pride in what they do and all of the porters who tirelessly, painstakingly move our gear up and down that massive mountain. They make it all happen for the climbers. Special thanks to Cosmas, Nehemia (mtu wa choo 🤧), Venance, Anthony, Gotfrid, Antipas, Bruno, Joseph, Emanuel, Alfred, Hagai – and the many more of you! They carry all the climbers food, tents, bathrooms to make it an enjoyable experience. Without them, none of this would be possible.
We have the best mountain team on Kilimanjaro and they really pulled out all the stops for the multitude of climbers we had this fall- thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
