Looking Ahead: What’s Coming in 2026 and Beyond

One of the best parts of running an adventure company is that we’re always thinking a few steps ahead—sometimes literally.

As we look toward 2026 and beyond, one thing is becoming clearer than ever: our future is rooted in hiking. Longer days on the trail. Quieter places. Routes that reward curiosity, patience, and a willingness to go a little farther than most people do.

Here’s a glimpse into what we’re building next.

A Bigger Focus on Domestic Hiking

Over the next couple of years, we’re making a meaningful push into U.S.-based hiking adventures.

We’re currently researching new multi-day hiking trips in Alaska, Utah, and Colorado—places with vast landscapes, big terrain, and plenty of room to get off the beaten path. These won’t be quick overnights or rushed itineraries. We’re designing 4–7 day trips that allow for real immersion, strong group dynamics, and the kind of pacing that lets a place sink in.

Alongside that work, we’re interviewing new guides who share our philosophy: people who understand that a great hike isn’t just about mileage, but about leadership, storytelling, and knowing when to slow things down.

And this spring, we’re reconnecting with some of our long-term Embark clients on the trail closer to home, with a special hiking trip in Estes Park this May. It’s a reminder that meaningful adventure doesn’t always require crossing an ocean.

Returning to Bhutan: A Longtime Favorite

This April, we’re headed back to Bhutan to continue building out what has become one of our favorite hiking destinations in the world.

We’re spending time refining routes and logistics for the Chomolhari Base Camp trek—a classic journey we haven’t run in quite a while, and one we’re excited to reintroduce with fresh perspective.

Bhutan has been part of the Embark story for more than 15 years. While many people are just beginning to discover it, we’ve been quietly sending travelers there for well over a decade, learning the rhythms of the trails, the culture, and what makes the hiking experience there so unique. Returning now feels both familiar and new—and exactly where we want to be.

Pakistan: Pushing the Limits

We’re also heading back to Pakistan—and our goal is to make this an annual expedition.

This is not a trip for everyone, and that’s exactly the point. Pakistan is for hikers who want to push their limits, take on serious mileage, and experience one of the most dramatic mountain landscapes on Earth.

If a 100-mile hike makes your heart beat a little faster, we want to hear from you. These are the kinds of adventures that demand commitment, preparation, and curiosity—and they tend to attract people who are looking for something truly transformative.

Hiking-Focused Safaris in Africa

Our vision for Africa is evolving too.

We’re rolling out more hiking-based safari experiences in some of the continent’s most compelling corners, including Namibia and South Africa. These journeys blend wildlife, walking, and wide-open spaces—offering a deeper, more grounded way to experience places that are often seen from a vehicle window.

It’s still Africa. The wildlife is still there. But the pace is different, and the connection to the land feels stronger when you’re moving through it on foot.

Building What Comes Next

Everything we’re working on—domestically and abroad—shares the same foundation: intentional routes, strong leadership, and experiences that feel earned.

Some of these trips are still in the research phase. Others are nearly ready. All of them are shaped by years of experience, conversations with our community, and a belief that hiking remains one of the most powerful ways to explore the world.

If any of this sparks curiosity—or if there’s a trail you’ve been quietly dreaming about—we’d love to hear from you.

The best adventures are still ahead.
