From a less-traveled path in the Khumbu Region ...
The Essence of Nepal Trekking in a Five-Minute Video
10.19.2017
It’s not often we come across a video that captures so much of the Nepal trekking experience in so few minutes.
But if you want to get a real taste of what trekking in the Khumbu Region is all about, take a break and watch this great piece by our fellow adventurer, Sierra Noland.
Sierra was part of the 2016 trip we put together for Washington and Lee University’s Outing Club. They started on the traditional route to Mount Everest Base Camp but then took a less-traveled path to the village of Chhukung. From there, they went up a peak called Chhukung Ri, which at 18,238’ (5,559 meters) sits at the base of Lhotse and has unparalleled views of Ama Dablam.
Also included are some of the vagaries of trekking in Nepal, like when your flights turn into helicopter rides and when you climb a peak and the day turns out foggy. Ah, well – still an adventure, and still worth the effort.
Views, culture, trails, companionship, tea house banter, quiet moments, and more views … great video, Sierra! And great trip, W&L! Makes us wish we were there right now …
