Embark is an adventure travel company that offers once-in-a-lifetime adventure tours for those who want to explore the most remote corners of the planet.
Embark specializes in custom adventure travel – each group typically has a unique itinerary, works with us on their itinerary, and picks the dates of their travel. Embark is always working toward two main priorities, developing trips that are both active and cultural, with an extreme focus on interacting with local communities and breaking down cultural barriers.
Carrie O’Callaghan and Donovan Pacholl, the founders and owners of Embark, are passionate about the great outdoors. For two decades, they’ve evolved into seasoned expedition leaders and planners, curating countless unforgettable journeys for thousands of adventurers in all the corners of the world. Embark was founded by them in 2003 on Mt. Kilimanjaro in East Africa where they lived. They have lead and organized expeditions in all corners of the world including the deserts of Jordan, the mountains of Bhutan and Nepal, the highlands of Tibet, the mountains of Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador, and even island and glaciers of remote Greenland. I found this 5 day safari exceeded my expectations. We saw so many animals really up close and personal, including the “big 5” , though rhino was at a distance. Masha, our guide, gave us a ton of interesting information. The whole Serengeti “vibe” was conservation oriented which I loved. Not having much knowledge of Peru, we embarked on a hiking journey that took us up through the Andes high mountain passes keeping our sights on the sacred Salkantay mountain. This feat in itself was a goal of my own to at least reach 16000 feet. The city of Cuzco charmed us from day one , the vibrant colors , the music and the warmth of the Peruvian culture.

Our mountain guides went the extra mile to educate us on the flora, fauna, history, culture and geography of Ecuador. This made climbing the volcanoes even more special. One of our guides also made sure we were checked in at the airport and cleared for our side excursion to the Galapagos.
