Description

This active South Africa journey blends coastal exploration, mountain hiking, and classic safari into one seamless adventure. Begin in Cape Town with guided hikes, kayaking, and outdoor exploration across the Cape Peninsula, Table Mountain, and the Winelands. Travel onward to the dramatic landscapes of the Drakensberg for challenging full-day hikes through rugged mountain terrain and remote valleys. Conclude the journey at Phinda Private Game Reserve, where days are spent on game drives, walking safaris, and immersive wildlife experiences, including an overnight sleep-out in the bush.

Welcome to Africa! You will be met on arrival at Cape Town International Airport, assisted through customs and immigration and on to meet your transfer approx. 50 minutes to your centrally-located boutique hotel.

Start your day with a sunrise hike up Table Mountain with your guide before a fully active day in the city!

Today it's off to the beautiful Cape Winelands, where you can choose to hike, bike or even horseback ride.

Rise early this morning and be returned to the Cape Town Airport for the scheduled flight to Durban, where you will be met and transferred about 4 hours by road deep into the heart of KwaZulu-Natal and the Drakensberg. You will arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon.

A challenging full-day hike through fern forest, ridgelines, and steep mountain terrain. Ascend Juluka Pass to the summit of Sungubala Mountain, rewarded with sweeping views of the valley and distant Drakensberg peaks. After a scenic mountain-top lunch, descend via remote, pathless terrain around Battleship Mountain and Sugar Loaf Gap before returning to the hotel.

A demanding hike through Sugar Loaf Gap and high ridgelines to the top of Gudu Falls. Enjoy swimming and lunch overlooking the falls before returning via the same route or opting for a longer loop via the Mudslide or “Crack” route, offering dramatic views of the Amphitheater.

Depart the Drakensberg and transfer by road through the Natal countryside to Phinda Private Game Reserve. Spend the next several days on guided morning and evening game drives, safari walks, and reserve activities. Your stay includes all meals, local drinks, laundry, and shared activities, including game drives, walking safaris, one e-bike ride, and one overnight sleep-out experience.
