Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Stockholm. Overnight in hotel

Welcome to Stockholm- we'll use this picturesque Scandinavian city as our hub on our way to and from our adventure up north. Since this is just our staging grounds, no activities are scheduled.

Day 2
Flight to Remote Northern Sweden

This morning the group will take a 2-hr flight to a remote northern town where your Swedish guides will receive you and a private bus will take the group toward the mountains. On the bus, we will have a guide briefing about the adventure to come. We will then transfer to a small boat that will take us over a small lake to today's final destination - Saltoluokta Mountain Station. Here we will enjoy a meal and spend some time going over the preparations for tomorrow's hike.

Day 3
Hike Saltoluokta to Sitojaure

Our first hiking day will be a full day along the famous King ́s Trail. Our destination is the mountain hut Sitojaure. We begin hiking down a valley filled with a beautiful birch mountain forest. Then we proceed on a gradual ascent to a plateau high above the treeline. Here the trail crosses a beautiful heathland landscape that offers views of the majestic peaks of Sarek to the west. After the plateau we will head down to the next valley where the beautiful river Sitojaure lays. Just next to the river rests our cabin with the same name. Dinner is cooked together at the mountain hut Sitojaure.

Day 4
Hike Sitojuare to Aktse

After breakfast at the hut, our hike continues another 6 miles along the King's Trail. We start in a valley down below the treeline and then ascend to a plateau, only to descend again to another valley. We will get to know a Sami family as they help us over the lake of Sitojaure in their motor boat. Our final destination is the mountain hut Aktse, where we will stay for two nights. From Aktse we will be able to view straight into the majestic Rapa Valley and into the gate of Sarek. We will also see the cliff of Skierfe, our summit the next day. Our cabin lies next to a small old Sami settlement (now summer houses for modern Sami-people).

Day 5
Skierfe Summit

Today we ascend the majestic cliff of Skierfe. The beauty of Skierfe is not its height but its shape and the view it offers. Skierfe is a cliff with an almost 2300 foot vertical wall to its southwest. The view from here (if weather permits) is spectacular. Below, we see the river delta of Laitaure created by the glacial rivers of Sarek. We can also see the small mountain Namatj, which resembles a heart and is often called "The Heart of Sarek". And of course, Skierfe offers the best view ever of the famous Rapa Valley. Today is a full day adventure taking time to enjoy the outstanding views along the way.

Day 6
Boat Ride on the Delta, Final Trek Out

Today we take a boat ride along the beautiful Laitaure river delta and then start another 5 mile hike before we meet our private bus at Sitoälvsbron. It's a 1.5 drive to our hotel in Jokkmokk where we will enjoy a final group dinner.
