Climbing Kilimanjaro, Barefoot!?

02.10.2012

We at Embark see a lot of references to people climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for charity. People take on Africa’s highest peak all the time to raise awareness and/or funds for charities or causes back home. And we’re all for it.

But this one really caught our eye: A team of South Africans climbed Kili barefoot! They were raising funds for Cape Town’s Red Cross Children’s Hospital, and we hope they got a ton of money for it. What isn’t explained here is exactly why they chose to go barefoot, other than (we suppose) it would get even more attention.

Well, maybe that sounds crazy, but it did get us to read, didn’t it?

Congrats to the barefoot climbers of Kilimanjaro!
