You will arrive in Anchorage and spend a day relaxing at a lodge near downtown. This evening a group dinner will be held to discuss the details of the trip and ensure that everyone is ready for our adventure.
After a short 1-hour drive from downtown Anchorage we’ll arrive at Hatchers Pass, nestled in the Talkeetna Mountains. We will embark on a moderately challenging climb to the top of Fish Peak and then continue upward to reach the summit of Marmot Mountain. The group will enjoy beautiful 360-degree views of the surrounding mountain range and overlook the Independence Mine State Historical Park below.
After a quick 30-minute drive from downtown Anchorage we’ll reach the McHugh Peak trailhead. Located in Chugach State Park, this trail climbs to the top of Turtle Peak (3,019 ft), traverses along a rolling ridge, and ends at McHugh Peak (4,298 ft). The group will enjoy stunning views of the Chugach Mountains, downtown Anchorage, and the Cook Inlet.
We’ll begin the day with a 1-hour drive to Girdwood along the Seward Highway. Once we reach the trailhead, the group will embark on a moderately challenging hike through Crow Pass in the Chugach Mountains. The trail features ruins of Brenner Mine, a rocky gorge with waterfalls, alpine meadows, turquoise pools, and a stunning view of Crystal Lake. The group has the option to continue 1-mile further along the trail to Raven Glacier before returning.
We will begin the South Fork Valley trail after a short 30-minute drive from downtown Anchorage. We’ll begin by climbing above the trees and along a ridge before dropping down into the valley. We’ll meander along the South Fork Eagle River, en- joying beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Finally, we cross a short bridge over the river and traverse a boulder field before reaching two pristine glacial lakes.
We’ll start the day early and drive 2.5-hours to Kenai Fjords National Park in Seward. The trail traverses a variety of landscapes– passing several glacial streams, through a rock field, and up to Exit Glacier with amazing mountain views throughout. We complete our Alaskan adventure with an exploration of the Harding Icefield up-close for an unforgettable Alaskan experience.
