Ecuador hosts numerous volcanic peaks that rise more than 13,000 feet above sea level and, some 600 miles west, the Galapagos Islands host marine life, plants, and animals found nowhere else on Earth. And that’s to say nothing of Machu Picchu, hidden in the Peruvian highlands, or the world-famous Torres del Paine National Park at the southern tip of South America.
